About Us

Our TRAVEL AGENT, Terri Goebel, has more than 20 years experience managing a Travel Agency and is our General Manager. Terri and her family are athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, fishers, and “adventure seekers”. Terri has extensive training as a Travel Agent and she and her family have taken advantage of travel opportunities with this exciting career. Her father is a renowned, horse shoe pitching athlete and a nationally ranked, dirt bike race, is hosted annually on their land in the southern tier. Terri’s family are often around climbing and assisting with our events.

Our Senior Manager, Gil Carr, is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges where he majored in Environmental Science and Architecture. A world traveler, Gil recently hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and has explored Europe and Asia. He “walks his talk” as an environmentalist and has consulted and led his colleges' Pre Orientation Adventure Program. Gil is an accomplished trainer, team builder and group facilitator and often leads multi-day seminars…consistently adding value and humor.

Our Owner, Kent Winchester, took early retirement from Rochester Institute of Technology, National Technical Institute for the Deaf, to open RockVentures in 1995. As a senior, tenured, faculty member Kent specialized in human development, training, team building and educational travel. He mentored more than 25 world-wide Outward Bound Interns and initiated the RIT Red Barn Leadership Training Program. Past experiences include the Peace Corps in W. Africa, guiding blind Athletes with the US Disabled Nordic Ski Team, founding the disabled ski program at Swain Ski Center, kayaking off southern Mexico and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro … before the crowds. Kent is currently expanding Shared Adventures Travel and Training …creating a cable TV AD with Adirondack Trails, “Inside the Blue Line” and consulting with TEAMS including Strong Hospital’s Pediatric Pulmonary Department, the University of Virginia, the Baden Street Settlement organization and numerous other organizations.

Kobe, our co-owner, is a 13 year old Golden Retriever and primary greeter at RockVentures.
