Team Creation

Since our inception in 1994, we have been providing unique team creation and edutainment for Fortune 500 companies, and other companies and organizations in Western NY and the East Coast.  In the summer of 2005, we facilitated a $500 million kick-off campaign for the University of Virginia’s Health System Development Office in the Shenandoah Mountains. This year we have customized seminars with Highland Hospital’s Oncology Department, the Xerox Corporation’s North American Tel Lab, and Ward International including Sergeant Welch and Science Kit. We are looking forward to working with you and your team to become the best.

WHY?

Why would anybody consider Team Creation as an important part of their business? More importantly, why would anyone think of a rock climbing gym as a great center for Team Creation? The answers are simple. Having a closely-knit team improves efficiency, communication, and productivity. Each member of a team has to be able to trust every other member. So why would rock climbers be good at building communication and trust? Rock climbing is not a solo sport. The climber and the rope holder are a team, working together to reach a goal. Communication and trust are essential for successful and safe rock climbing. Besides climbing and rope holding, the other important roles of coaching, cheering and back-up rope holding are essential for team success.

WHERE?

RockVentures is the largest indoor climbing facility in North America, and it is located in Rochester, NY. We have an excellent location for your team creation right here in our facility. You can come and learn to work as a team both with and without climbing. That’s right, your feet never have to leave the ground! You don’t even have to set foot in our gym because we can come to you!
Our Place:  Our rock walls are the backdrop: the seminar is on Team Creation and often does NOT include physical adventures. Climbing is not necessary for a very successful team creation seminar.
Your place:  In the summer of 2005 we were in the Shenandoah Mountains with the University of Virginia’s Health Systems Development Office.  We can easily use your boardroom or conference center. Our adventure-based problem solving challenges are transportable, and we also have a Mobile Rock Wall if you want to climb during your session.
Other Places:  The sky is the limit! We can go anywhere with our facilitators, adventure challenges, strategies, and skilled team creation.

HOW?

We’ll be asking you to tell us about your group, and working with you to figure out how we can create a team. That way, the goals, tools, and rules of the seminar are agreed upon in advance.

• Administering, interpreting, and applying a DiSC Personal Insight Profile to your team to improve communication and understanding between all your team members.
• Visual Mapping via OutComm^(R) Facilitation, to brainstorm goals, strategic plans, vision and mission statements, and other areas of interest.
• Creating Team Vision and Mission Statements.
• Identifying and working on specific strategic objectives for your team.
• Facilitating relevant problem solving “challenges” or “puzzles”.
• Incorporating adventure or experiential-education based problem-solving strategies.
• Presenting our mobile rock wall and floor problem solving exercises at another location.

WHEN?

When works best for you? Our Team Creation hours can be very flexible, however we find that the best results come from one to two day seminars. The shortest Team Creation Seminar is usually 4-5 hours. Follow-up coaching sessions are also available.
